On Tuesday, Ben Ainslie launched Ben Ainslie Racing (BAR) to the world wearing a branded up PUMA jacket. PUMA is the official clothing sponsor of the America’s Cup and the defender ORACLE Racing, who Ben will join for the proper America’s Cup racing in 2013.
But before the appearance of BAR in the America’s Cup World Series, Ben Ainslie has an Olympic games on home soil to compete in, and long-time clothing sponsor Henri Lloyd are looking to make the most of the patriotic support for the star of Team GBR.
Henri Lloyd used the London Boat Show to launch a new range called the “Ainslie GBR 3 Collection“.
The range seems to have been inspired by the union jack flag waving of the last night of the proms or a royal wedding with red, white and blue and a union jack motif. Bens sail number and signature are also part of the design.
The range comprises casual lifestyle clothing for men, women and children and features Hoodies, Polos, T’s and caps.
Ainslie said:
“It’s an honour that Henri Lloyd have again decided to launch a clothes range under my name, it was exciting to work with them on the development of the Ainslie GBR 3 Collection and I’m really pleased how it’s turned out, it looks great! Henri Lloyd has sponsored me since the Atlanta Olympics in 1996, it’s good to know that such an iconic brand is supporting my Olympic campaign and I look forward to working with them for many years to come”.
Paul Strzelecki; Henri Lloyd Joint Chief Executive said:
“The Ainslie GBR 3 Collection is part of our continued commitment and support of Ben. Our relationship started in 1996, and it has been amazing to see him accomplish so much in his sailing career so far. We are very excited about our future together and wish him all the best in Weymouth this Summer and after that his re-entry into the America’s Cup with Oracle Racing.”
Of the large sailing clothing brands, only Henri Lloyd and Musto have their own stands at this year’s London Boat Show.
