Hobie Polarized Renew US Sailing Partner Deal

US Sailing and Hobie Polarized eyewear have renewed their multi-year sponsorship deal. Hobie Polarized became the official sunglasses provider of US Sailing in November of 2009.

Hobie Polarized is an official sponsor for several major US Sailing events, including four National Championships (U.S. Match Racing Championship, U.S. Singlehanded Championship, U.S. Multihull Championship, U.S. Team Racing Championship ), US Sailing’s National Sailing Programs Symposium and US Sailing’s Speaker Series .

Jack Gierhart, Executive Director of US Sailing said:

“Not only does Hobie create great sunglasses for sailors, but they are iconic to the sport. We are excited to extend our partnership with Hobie and look forward to the value they bring to our members and events.”

Jorge Verdin, Senior Director, Hobie Polarized said:

“We were passionate about the opportunity to continue working with US Sailing. Hobie Polarized has been the choice for watermen since 1982. We are excited to have a partner that shares our vision for performance, quality and love of the water.”

The eyewear and sunglasses space is competitive, especially in sailing. Recently the defending team of the America’s Cup – Oracle Racing announced a deal with Tag Heuer which features both watches and eyewear. The skipper of one of the Oracle boats, James Spithill has a personal sponsorship deal with Prada sunglasses, while other top sailors are sponsored by brands like Kaenon.

Oakley is also involved with sailing through their partnership with past America’s Cup winners Alinghi.
