Nautical Collection by Garrard Jeweler Part of Sponsorship Deal.
On the heels of perhaps the most glamorous rounds of the World Match Racing Tour in St Moritz, the WMRT has announced a 3 year partnership with Garrard – “The world’s oldest jewellers”.
Garrard has a long history with the sport of sailing, being the maker of the America’s Cup trophy and more recently being a commercial partner of TEAMORIGIN, creating a trophy for the one-off 1851 Cup raced in 2010. Away from sailing, the brand appears in the news for being worn by everyone from Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge to Cheryl Cole.
Garrard, will become the Official Jeweller and Silversmith to the Tour, which is not a sponsorship category that many sports have! Garrard will create the Tour trophy to be unveilled at the season finale – the Monsoon Cup – in November.
Eric Deardorff, CEO of Garrard & Co Ltd said:
“We are honoured to continue our rich, 235-year history with world-class sailing venues by designing the ISAF 2011 Match Racing World Championship trophy. To further enhance our involvement with sailing enthusiasts, Garrard is launching ‘Nautical’ – a sterling silver collection of nautical-themed jewellery that, alongside our 18ct gold fine jewellery collections, will be available at key events throughout the Tour and at our London flagship store on Albemarle St. We are really looking forward to working with the World Match Racing Tour.”
As well as making the tour trophy, and the Nautical Collection, the Garrard name will be integrated across the Tour’s media channels and marketing campaigns. A full page advertisement appears on the back page of the Tour’s new digital magazine – Match Racing 360, which is also now available for iPad.
The sponsorship deal will also be activated through bespoke hospitality packages, including ‘evening functions hosted by Garrard.’ Garrard will also host two VIP events in association with the Tour at their London store each year.
Jim O’Toole, CEO of the World Match Racing Tour, commented:
“It’s a pleasure to welcome Garrard as a new partner to the World Match Racing Tour. Garrard has a rich, individual history with some great sporting associations and we’re delighted to become a part of that family. We’re in an exciting phase of growth on the Tour and we look forward to working closely with Garrard to cement their link to sailing by incorporating their brand into both the Tour and our global fanbase.”
